BANGLADESH ’S Hindu Leader’s House Attacked

ONE person has been arrested by Police in connection with the attack of the house of Bangladesh Hindu leader Advocate Rabindra Nath Ghosh and loot of valuables in Dhaka district on March 25 allegedly committed by seven persons. Advocate Ghosh, who is also founder Chair, of the Bangladesh Minority Watch, alleged in the FIR that deities worshipped by his family was desecrated, workers engaged for construction of the dwelling house were beaten, construction materials and the workers’ mobile sets were taken away by the miscreants from the house located at Kalunagar Mouza within Kamrangirchar police station of Dhaka DMP City Corporation (South) Dhaka. Perpetrators blocked the Hindu workers in a room and locked and demolished the two-story storied structures, looted multifarious type of valuable goods, stolen rods, cement, construction materials etc and stolen “ Shiva Murthi” .
The plot was purchased by Advocate Rabindra Ghosh and his wife Krishna Ghosh in 2010 from a valid owner of land within the said Plot.They had engaged some workers to construct
semi-pucca wall with tin shed with wood on the plot. Two houses had been constructed within the purchased plot. Some land grabbers belonging to majority community were trying to capture the plot by way of fraudulent means and demanding zizia tax for extorting money. Finding no other way hundreds of perpetrators with the help of above perpetrators on 25th March around 12.30 a.m.Bangladesh Standard Time attacked the house .Seven mobile sets were snatched away from the workers valued at Taka 21,000 besides cash money Taka 1,00,000 from worker Sunil Mondal and total costs of the articles and looted goods would be around Taka 6,50,000.00 (Taka Six lacks fifty thousand) only. Advocate Ghosh has also informed Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Home Minister of Bangladesh, over phone .He has assured Ghosh to take action against perpetrators. Advocate Qamrul Islam, Local Minister for Food, visited the spot and found some witnesses who deposed that the perpetrators are absconding but threatening the
construction workers not to work further. A sense of insecurity is prevailing among the minorities in the area, Advocate Ghosh said in a statement.
