BJP Accuses Congress Of Promoting Chauvinism, Parochialism To Win Karnataka Assembly Elections

CAMPAIGN for the May 12 Karnataka Assembly Election is hotting up with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading electioneering for the BJP and Congress president Rahul Gandhi trying to retain his party’s government .BJP is bent on wresting power from the Congress after five years accusing it of maladministration, corrupt and promoting chauvinism as well parochial sentiments. BJP headed by PM Modi and National President Amit Shah allege that Congress’ policy is to dive the people on caste and communal lines. Modi  is playing a nationalism card and accused the Congress of promoting only one family ever since Independence in 1947 .Congress has no moral right to speak about the plight of the farming community. Successive Congress Governments had shelved the Swaminathan Commission’s Recommendations on resolving agrarian crises. Rahul Gandhi took a swipe at him for his “personal attacks” that “doesn’t behove” of a person holding a high office. Modi alleged at election meetings that the Congress had insulted the Indian Army by questioning the truth behind 2016 surgical strikes against terrorists in Pakistan. He said the Congress was spreading “lies” by accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of being anti-Dalit, anti-Muslim and anti-women. PM Modi said his party and government are committed to empower women giving them equal rights in all spheres, improve the lot of the Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes. BJP abhors appeasing any community, caste and creed for their electoral support.  Addressing a series of election meetings, Modi and Amit Shah said Siddaramiah led Karnataka government is a “gold medallist” in corruption. Rahul Gandhi took a swipe at him for his “personal attacks” that “doesn’t behove” of a person holding a high office.PM  Modi alleged that the Congress had insulted the Indian Army by questioning the truth behind 2016 surgical strikes against terrorists in Pakistan. He said the Congress was spreading “lies” by accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of being anti-Dalit, anti-Muslim and anti-women.  Modi played a nationalism card and accused the Congress of promoting only one family, Rahul Gandhi took a swipe at him for his “personal attacks” that “doesn’t behove” of a person holding a high office. Dubbing the Siddaramiah government as “seedha rupaiah government” (corrupt), a punning allusion to the chief minister’s name, Modi said an ordinary man cannot get done any work without bribing officials. “Because of this seedha rupaiah government Karnataka is immersed in debt,” he told an election rally in Ballari. Congress says BJP is promoting  corruption by giving the party  tickets to tainted Reddy brothers, accused of involvement in a humongous illegal iron ore mining scam.PM Modi hits back saying  “This Karnataka government is  frustrated. All attempts by the Centre to stop illegal mining in Ballari….to allow the auction of mining blocks. But the Siddaramiah government failed to formulate a mining policy in five years,” he told an election rally in Ballari.
