Devendra Fadnavis elected Maharashtra BJP legislature party leader: Differences with Shiv Sena Will be sorted out, he says
SOON after unanimous election as BJP Legislature party Leader, Devendra Fadnavis, 49, assured the people that BJP- Shiv Sena will form Maharashtra Government. The saffron alliance has won an absolute majority in the state assembly elections as in five years ago, he said and added differences with Shiv Sena will be sorted ruling out 50-50 power sharing formula between the two allies. Earlier, he had denied of such formula was ever accepted by BJP.Republic TV says BJP will not make any compromise on key portfolios including home to appease Shiv Sena and Fadnavis will be Chief Minister again. Shiv Sena will be offered Deputy Chief Ministership, Republic TV added. The meeting was held at Vidhan Bhawan in south Mumbai. He thanked Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray for the alliance’s victory. The BJP on Tuesday had named Union minister Narendra Singh Tomar and party’s vice president Avinash Rai Khanna as central observers for the Maharashtra legislature party meeting. Tomar said only Fadnavis’ name was proposed. Fadnavis asserted that he will be the chief minister for another five years. Fadnavis, re- elected from Nagpur, had on Tuesday said the Shiv Sena was not promised the CM’s post for two-and-a-half years when the alliance was formalised before the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. Ever since results of the October 21 Assembly polls were out, Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray has been claiming that the 50:50 formula on sharing of power was “agreed upon” between himself, Home Minister and BJP National President Amit Shah and Fadnavis ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Shiv Sena is for making Aaditya Thackeray, 29, son of Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray as Chef Minister .He has won assembly poll from Worli in Mumbai .
