FMR PM Vajpayee Was Among The Tallest Leaders in Post Independent India, Says Dr Manmohan Singh
President of India Ramnath Kovind, former President Pranab Mukherjee ,Vice President M Venkaiah, several NDA and non-NDA Chief Ministers including Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar ,his West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and AICC President Rahul Gandhi paid their respects to the mortal remains of India’s iconic three-time Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee .Grieving PM Narendra Modi who was appointed Gujarat CM by the then PM Vajpayee in 2001 and BJP’s National President Amit Shah along with other NDA stalwarts led by Lal Krishna Advani, Dr Murli Manohar Joshi , Home Minister Raj Nath Singh and Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj joined the nation in mourning the demise of Vajpayee at his Krishna Menon Marg in Luyten’s Delhi . Dr Manmohan Singh, who became PM after Vajpayee in 2004, says Vajpayee was among the tallest leaders of modern India who spent his whole life serving the country. Expressing profound sorrow at his predecessor’s demise, Dr MMS said Vajpayee was as a great prime minister and an outstanding parliamentarian. The Congress leader said the former premier was an excellent orator and an impressive poet.”I have learnt with profound sorrow about the sad demise of Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji. An excellent orator, an impressive poet, an exceptional Public Servant, an outstanding Parliamentarian and a great Prime Minister, Shri Vajpayee ji stood among the tallest leaders of modern India, who spent his whole life serving our great country. His services to our nation will be remembered for a long time to come,” Singh said in his condolence statement. Vajpayee, one of India’s most charismatic leaders who led the nation through several crises and held together a tenuous coalition with his inclusive politics, died here today. He was 93.Vajpayee, a bachelor, is survived by his adopted daughter Namita Kaul Bhattacharya. His death was announced on Thursday evening by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) hospital where he was admitted June 11 with a variety of ailments.
