GOA CM Manohar Parrikar Is Back After 3 Months

RULING BJP feels relieved as well as happy after Goa Chief Minister Manohar Gopalkrishna Prabhu Parrikar, better known as Manohar   Parrikar, is back after three months to resume duties in the coastal state. He had undergone treatment in a hospital in the United States for advanced pancreatic cancer. Parrikar, accompanied by members of his family, a medical team and officials of the Chief Minister’s Office, flew from US to Mumbai, before arriving in Goa on Thursday evening amid heavy police security.Parrikar,62, flew from US to Mumbai, before arriving in Goa .A visibly-thin Parrikar, who walked out of the terminal building at the Dabolim International Airport wearing a blue shirt, was welcomed by Health Minister Vishwajit Rane and Director General of Police Muktesh Chander and other Goa government officials and state BJP functionaries. He then headed for his private residence .Bharatiya Janata Party sources said, that Parrikar may cancel the meeting of his council of ministers, which was scheduled to be held on Friday.”The Chief Minister is tired after the visit. The cabinet meeting which was scheduled to be held at his private residence, may be rescheduled,” a senior BJP functionary said. Parrikar was hospitalised in US in March this year after being diagnosed for advanced pancreatic cancer. He was first admitted to the Lilawati Hospital in Mumbai in February after he complained of stomach pain. Before leaving Goa, Parrikar formed a cabinet advisory committee to guide the state administration on governance and other issues in his absence. He has been monitoring the affairs of the state from the US. The tenure of the committee comprising Sudin Dhavalikar of the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party, Francis D’Souza of the BJP and Vijai Sardesai of the Goa Forward Party will expire on June 30. Of the 11 members in the state cabinet, two are currently not in Goa. While Power Minister Pandurang Madkaikar remains hospitalised in Mumbai after suffering brain stroke, Urban Development Minister Francis D’Souza is in Portugal on vacation.A cabinet meeting will decided about the schedule for the Monsoon Session of the state legislative assembly.
