Great Personalities Forgotten For One Family: Prime Minister Narendra Modi
PRIME Minister Narendra Modi has regretted saying for the glorification of Nehru-Gandhi family, contribution made by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose , Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Dr B R Ambedkar and others to the freedom struggle have been ignored since Independence. PM made the observation while unfurling the national tricolour at Delhi’s historic Red Fort to observe the 75th foundation day of The Azad Hind Government by Subhas Chandra Bose in Singapore. The Red Fort under the Mughal rulers was India’s capital till the country was taken over by the British from then East India Company after the Sepoy Mutiny in 1857. They great leaders were “deliberately forgotten” to glorify “one family”. He also said it is high time more Indians knew about the historic role these stalwarts played. Donning INA cap a combative Modi said that India never eyes anyone else’s territory but will hit back with “double the force” if its sovereignty is ever challenged. NDA government was working towards providing the armed forces with better technology and latest weapons. He went on to add that efforts were underway to make the lives of soldiers easier by giving them better facilities. He also unveiled a plaque to mark the 75th anniversary of the proclamation of the Azad Hind government in the fort. Since Independence, , the Prime Minister unfurls the tricolour on the ramparts of the Red Fort on Independence Day. The plaque will be placed at barrack number three at the Red Fort where members of the Azad Hind Fauj faced trial. A museum will be also set up in the barrack.
