MAMATA Banerjee Hails SC’s Verdict On AADHAAR

BENGAL Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who had declared publicly that she would throw away her cell phone rather than linking it to her AADHAAR Number, has welcomed The Supreme Court of India’s verdict on the biometric card saying not linking it to mobile phones and bank accounts is a great relief for the common people.”We welcome the verdict by the Supreme Court. It is a victory of the people of this country and we are very happy,” Banerjee, an arch critic of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has Tweeted added.”From day one, we have fought for this. Not linking Aadhaar to mobile phones, bank accounts and others is a great relief for the common people. My best wishes to all,” the chief minister said. A five-judge constitution Bench headed  by retiring  Chief  Justice  of  India Dipak Misra on Wednesday ruled the Centre’s flagship Aadhaar scheme constitutionally valid, but struck down some of its provisions, including linking with bank accounts, mobile connections and school , College  and university  admission.  SC has also made it clear that AADHAAR Number cannot be duplicated and advised the UIDAI and Government to ensure more effective protection of the data collected by the issuing authority. Congress President Rahul Gandhi has also hailed the apex court’s order saying it his party’s victory.
