Mohammed Shami Allowed By Kolkata Police To Resume Play In IPL After Recording His Version on Domestic Violence

India’s pacer Mohammed Shami, who represents Bengal in domestic cricket, has been allowed to play by the Kolkata Police for the Delhi Daredevils (DD) in the ongoing IPL .The 28-year-old right handed batsman and fast medium bowler is accused by his wife Hasin Jahan of adultery and domestic violence. He and his elder brother were grilled by the Kolkata Police in its historic headquarters at Lalbazar on Wednesday. He faced summons issued by the Kolkata Police after his wife had filed multiple cases related to infidelity and domestic violence, Shami was held back in the metropolis after Delhi’s IPL fixture against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on April 16. “We have got no objection in Shami joining his IPL side. But if need be, we will be call him again,” Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Praveen Tripathi told reporters after Shami’s grilling that lasted a little over three hours. “We can call him anytime but at this point of time, we don’t find it is necessary. He’s fully cooperating in this case,” Tripathi added.  Shami has booked his flight to join Gautam Gambhir led DD in Bengaluru where they play a match against the Virat Kohli-led side on April 21.

Meanwhile, The Board of Control for Cricket in India, which had withheld Shami from their national contract list following the allegations related to match fixing, has renewed his annual contract after The Anti-Corruption Unit cleared him of the charge.
