NDPP Supremo Is New Nagaland CM With BJP’s Y Patton As Dy CM

NEW Council of Ministers headed by NDPP leader Neiphiu Rio, 67, on Thursday took oath at a public function in Kohima as the Chief Minister of north-eastern State of Nagaland. He becomes CM for the fourth time. Governor P B Acharya administered the oath of office and secrecy to Rio and his Ministers at the main rostrum of the ground in the presence of BJP president Amit Shah, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, MOS Kiren Rijiju, CMs of BJP ruled NE States and other dignitaries. Rio, who is presently the lone Lok Sabha Member  from the state ,had previously served as Chief Minister of Nagaland  for three separate terms from 2003–08, 2008–13 and 2013–14.He remains the only Naga politician who has achieved the distinction. Earlier, BJP snaps 15-year-old ties with NPF to go with NDPP.The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), in alliance with the BJP, has the support of 32 MLAs in the 60-Member Legislative Assembly. Y Patton belonging to BJP is the Deputy CM of Nagaland.BJP has been given six ministerial berths. BJP National General Secretary in charge of NE Ram Madhav, CM of Manipur N Biren Singh, CM of Arunachal Pradesh Pema Khandu, CM of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal and CM of Meghalaya Conrad Sangma were also present at the oath ceremony. The newly appointed Ministers are CM Chang, Neiba Kronuo, Phowang Konyak,Metsibu Jamir , Pangyu Phom, Jacob Zhimomi, Temjem Imna Along,Kashiho,G Kaito Aye , lone JDU MLA. RIO, an Angami Naga from Dimapur district, is married and has fathered six children. He was awarded The Mother Teresa Millennium Award for outstanding leadership and contribution to politics at a function held at Kolkata in 2007. He had served as the President of Kohima District United Democratic Front (UDF) Youth Wing in 1974. He was also appointed Chairman of Northern Angami Area Council in 1984.
