NOBODY Involved In Tinsukia Carnage Will Be Spared: Assam CM Sonowal

AMIDST  report that the  NIA is expected to  take over  the Tinsukia massacre probe,ASSAM Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has stern action against those involved in the massacre of five Bengali Hindus in Tinsukia district of eastern Assam, 500 km from the state capital, on Thursday evening. The Government will also take action the people, organizations and public representatives who made inflammatory statements in the past that led to the ghastly incident as TMC supremo and WB CM Mamata Banerjee is allegedly trying to take advantage of human tragedy. WB BJP leaders have condemned her for trying to give the incident a Assamese-Bong clash. Three Assam Ministers have visited the crime scene and interacted with the people assuring them security .The state government has announced ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh and Government jobs to the next keen of the victims’ family.“We will take strongest action against the perpetrators of this heinous crime. I have directed all law enforcing agencies to maintain peace and take stern action against anybody trying to destabilize our peaceful society and State,” Sonowal tweeted on Friday. “I strongly condemn the cowardly attack on innocent people at Sadiya. My heartfelt condolence to the family members of those who have lost their lives, Sonowal said on the social media. “My police department has started taking action against the culprits involved in the killing,” added Sonowal.“Some individuals, organizations, a section of media, social media and inflammatory statements by a section of peoples’ representatives have led to the situation yesterday. We appeal all to maintain restrain or we will be forced to take action against them,” Sonowal said as the anti-talk faction of ULFA led  by Paresh Baruah , who the police had suspected to be behind the incident, has denied  involvement in the heinous crime. Assam DGP Kuladhar Saikia  has however refused to name any particular outfit behind the massacre saying the police are  probing to nab the masterminds . “Our first job is to instill a sense of security among the people living here and we are doing that. I hope that police will arrest the culprits soon,” said the DGP.In another development, police in Assam’s capital town Guwahati have arrested Mrinal Hazarika, a senior leader of the pro-talk faction of ULFA  for allegedly making inflammatory statements against a particular community some days ago. Police said that Hazarika while speaking against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill recently had threatened the Bengali Hindus of dire consequences. Assam has been witnessing several  protests against the BJP led Government’s move to pass in the parliament the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016—a constitutional amendment bill that seeks to grant citizenship to persecuted minority communities in Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan. While several organizations including the indigenous communities are opposing the Bill, some of the Hindu Bengali organizations are supporting it.Hindu Bengali organization also planned to organize a rally in support of the Bill on November 17.Several Assam BJP leaders are supporting the organizations.(with inputs  from The Assam Tribune.
