PM Narendra Modi Inaugurates Several Projects In Manipur

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated eight projects including the Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Moreh and Dolaithabi Barrage Project at Maraori area and also laid foundation stones for four projects including two flood lighting systems at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex at Imphal on January 4. Addressing  a public meeting  after the project inauguration at the crowded Hapta Kangjeibung ground, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of the newly-inaugurated projects in the region. The NDA government is completing almost all the important projects on time not only in Manipur but also in rest of North- Eastern region, he added. The upcoming Jiribam-Imphal Rail project will help development activities in North East. He also announced that three new Women’s Markets will be constructed in the State soon. Complementing the women’s movement in the State, he said Manipur has also been a front-runner in the field of women empowerment.Chief minister N Biren Singh highlighted a number of development programmes of the State Government. The Prime Minister has visited the State three times within a short period shows his concern for the people, he said. Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar gave the welcome address in the function.Speaker Y Khemchand, Cabinet Ministers and State BJP chief Kh Bhabananda were also present in the meeting. The newly inaugurated projects are FCI Food storage godown at Sawombung in Imphal East district,Buffer water reservoir at Shirui village in Ukhrul district, Improvement and upgradation of water supply for Churachandpur zone II in Churachandpur district, Eco-tourism complex at Thangal Surung in Kangpokpi district, Integrated Tourist destination at Tupul in Noney district and Water supply scheme at JNV Lambui in Ukhrul district, says a state government statement. Modi, who was here for more than an hour, also laid the foundation stone for infrastructure development of Dhanamanjuri University in Imphal and Astroturf football field at Langjing Achouba in Imphal West district besides dedicating 400 kV double circuit silchar-Imphal line before leaving for Silchar. Earlier, at around 12.10 pm, the Prime Minister was received at Imphal International Airport by the State Chief Minister N Biren singh and BJP State unit president K H Bhabananda. Meanwhile, normal life in the State particularly in Imphal was affected as the armed groups in the State boycotted the PM’s visit.
