SITARAM Yechury Invited For Karl Marx’s 200th Birth Anniversary Celebrations In China

CPI (M) General Secretary, Sitaram Yechury, is in China to attend a workshop commemorating the 200th birth anniversary day of Karl Marx at the invitation of the Communist Party of China with which the CPI-M has fraternal relations. The workshop scheduled to be held on May 28 in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, China on the theme Marxism of the 21st Century and the Future of World Socialism is expected to see the participation of around 150 leaders of communist parties from around the world. It may be recalled that Karl Marx (1818-1883) , was a German philosopher, economist, historian, political theorist, sociologist, journalist and revolutionary socialist. Marx had studied law and Hegelian philosophy. His political publications had angered the then German authorities forcing him to leave his motherland and live in exile in London, where he continued to develop his thought in collaboration with another German thinker Friedrich Engels and publish his writings, researching in the British Museum. His best-known titles are the 1848 pamphlet, The Communist Manifesto, and the three-volume Das Kapital. His political and philosophical thoughts had enormous influence on subsequent intellectual, economic and political history and his name has been used as an adjective, a noun and a school of social theory, says Wikipedia.(image courtesy : Google)
