STE International Achievers Award 2019 for Indian Bengali Scientist
Professor Prosun Bhattacharya, Sweden based Indian scientist, has won STE International Achievers Award 2019. Prof. Bhattacharya is well known geologist and is a professor at Department of Sustainable Development , Environmental Science and Engineering at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden .”STE International Achiever Award 2019 ” has been given to Prof. Bhattacharya in recognition of his distinguished work in the field of Environmental Geochemistry and Water Quality Analysis .Prof. Bhattacharya has been awarded for his widely acclaimed research on groundwater management that has triggered path breaking research to find solutions to water related issues across the planet .His work touched positively millions of lives in all continents and improved quality of life by providing safe drinking water . Bhattacharya is an inspiration to for environmentalists and researchers across the world. The award will be presented on 22nd October 2019 at National Conference on Water Crisis, Public Health & Sustainable Solution WCPHS 2019, at Indian National Science Academy (INSA) in New Delhi. Prof, Bhattacharya had his early schooling in Raisina Bengali School in Delhi, Hans Raj College & Department of Geology of University of Delhi .Save The Environment (STE) is a society for Research, Awareness, and Social Development, Kolkata. Besides the latest honour, Bhattacharya’s pioneering work brought many laurels to India. Prosun Bhattacharya, born in 1962, holds a PhD in Sedimentary Geochemistry from University of Delhi. He is Professor of Groundwater Chemistry and Coordinator of the KTH-International Groundwater Arsenic Research Group at the Department of Sustainable Development, Environmental Science and Engineering at KTH Royal Institute of Technology at Stockholm, Sweden. He has been honoured as a Fellow of the Geological Society of America in April, 2012. Since 2011, he is also responsible for Developing Nations Coordination of the IWA Specialist Group Metals and Related Substances in Drinking Water.
