WB Congress Demands President’s Rule Alleging Mamata Banerjee has “Murdered Democracy” in Bengal

AS Mamata Banerjee ,the first CM to compliment  JD (Secular ) for saving  democracy in Karnataka  in alliance with Congress , and  is packing her baggage  to be in Bengaluru to be present at the swearing –in of the  new government, Pradesh Congress Committee and other    opposition parties  in one voice say she has murdered  democratic  institutions in her home state. Ruling Trinamool Congress headed by Mamata Banerjee, aspiring to form a third front against NDA in 2019 Parliamentary polls, has scored a “ridiculously abnormal” 94 per cent — after the counting for May 14 Panchayat elections were officially declared TMC has bagged 589 of 621 Zilla Parishad seats promoting the Opposition parties demand President’s Rule   to save democracy in the eastern state. State BJP president Dilip Ghosh said it was for the Governor to decide what report he would send to the Centre after the bloodiest ever poll in rural Bengal, Pradesh Congress President Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said there was no hope for democracy in Bengal and only President’s Rule could save the State.“Even during the Left regime the situation was far better than what it is today,” Chowdhury, who is also a senior Lok Sabha MP, said. He earlier led a team of his party leaders to apprise Governor Kashi Nath N Tripathi about the developments related to Panchayat election. There is no democracy in Bengal. There is no space for opposition politics. No scope to reach out to people in interior areas. Let alone during elections you cannot put your party flags even in normal times,” the leader said. There is no opposition in 10 out of 20 ZPs (district boards) that went to the tree tier polls, SEC sources said. The districts that went opposition-less were Bankura, Hooghly, two Burdwan, North and South 24 Parganas, South Dinajpur.Out, two Midnapores and Jalpaiguri. At Panchayat Samiti level also the ruling party has bagged more than 80 percent seats.“The Panchayat elections were not only farce but a slap on the face of the electorate,” he said adding his party would soon move the High Court against the State Election Commission for violating its order to hold free and fair elections.” The Opposition parties allege that the State’s Chief Electoral Officer is being forced to toe the ruling party’s political line. Although CPI-M General Secretary Sitaram Yechury has condemned the attempts being made to finish off all opposition in WB, no so-called national leader of the country’s oldest political party has taken note of the political scenario in WB.As per the official sources, BJP is placed distant second putting its best performance since demolition of the disputed structure at Ayodhya .The CPI(M) slipped to the third position while the Congress emerged fourth among the political parties.
