PM Modi extends free-ration scheme for poor until November saying ‘One Nation One Ration Card soon

ON the eve of unlock 2 relaxing protocols for lockdown across India to contain Covid-19, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced extension of PM Gareeb Kalyan Anna Yojana till the end of November. Under the scheme.25 kgs of wheat or rice and five kgs pulses will be given free monthly to 80 crores poor. He thanked taxpayers and Kisans for making the scheme successful. The scheme was initiated in the wake of the COVID- 19 pandemic. If one looks at the death rate due to corona, India is still in a very stable situation in the fight against COVID- 19 as compared to other countries.  Making the announcement in a nationwide televised broadcast PM Modi said that timely decisions and measures like lockdown have saved many lives. Since unlock one started, people have shown negligence urging people to take all necessary precautions for fighting Coronavirus.  He stressed the need to have a special focus on containment zones during unlock India commencing from July 1.
