RAHUL Gandhi In Mess After S C Issues Contempt Notice To Him For Remarks On Rafale Case
INDIA’s Supreme Court on Tuesday issued contempt notice to Congress president Rahul Gandhi for his remarks on the Rafale case. The apex Court earlier on Monday said the remarks were “incorrectly attributed” to it. The top court rejected Gandhi’s plea to close the criminal contempt petition filed by Meenakshi Lekhi, BJP Lok Sabha Member from New Delhi. “On hearing senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi on behalf of Gandhi in the contempt petition we deem it fit to issue notice to the respondent (Rahul) Gandhi,” a Bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi said.”We also direct the registry to list the review petition along with the contempt petition next Tuesday.” Justices Deepak Gupta and Sanjiv Khanna , other Members of the Bench ,said .The S C has admitted a petition filed by Meenakshi Lekhi, Lok Sabha Member from New Delhi, alleging the INC President had committed contempt of the court by misquoting the Supreme Court’s judgement on admitting certain documents related to the Rafael case. The SC will resume hearing the on April 30 the criminal contempt petition.
