CDS warns U.S. of UK variant spreading

JOE Biden, who will assume as the 46th President of United States of America on January 20, will prioritize vaccination drive  by expanding the number of vaccination sites .Biden says he would use available supplies more efficiently and equitably to supercharge the effort to get shots into arms after Trump’s promise to vaccinate 20 million people before January  fell far short. “We’ll manage the hell out of this operation,” Biden said on Friday, as he offered a sober assessment of the nation’s ability to conquer the pandemic, The Washington Post says in an article. Biden has planned  to speed up vaccinations by focusing on people who need them most at a time when covid-19 cases and hospitalizations have reached record levels.

Raising the urgency of the vaccine effort was a warning from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that the highly contagious variant of the novel coronavirus first seen in Britain will become the dominant strain in the United States within about two months, the widely read newspaper said. More than 23 million cases of covid-19 have been reported from across the nation and the mortality rate will be around 400,000 as on Friday, January 15.Over 31 million vaccine doses have been distributed and at least 10.6 million people have been vaccinated, CDC figures show. Biden is worried that the pandemic will endanger many more people  and livelihoods in his country than earlier anticipated. Meanwhile, CDS has made public that the  highly contagious variant of the coronavirus first detected in the United Kingdom will become the dominant strain in the United States within about two months.

The  U.K. strain claimed to be about 50 percent more transmissible than the more common coronavirus strain will account for a majority of cases in the U.S.by  March.  Joe Biden,78, and his wife Christiania have meanwhile received his first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine live on television . Biden is in the high-risk group for the deadly disease. After getting the shot, he praised the country’s medical professionals and called them “heroes”. Vice President -elect Kamla Harris,56, has also received COVID-19 vaccine.
