Mike Pompeo discusses Coronavirus related issues with India’s FM Jaishankar and his counterparts from five other nations

Secretary of State of United States of America Mike Pompeo has discussed COVID -19 related issues with his counterparts from India, Australia, Brazil, Israel, Japan and South Korea. State Department Spokesperson Morgan Ortagus said that Pompeo and his counterparts discussed the importance of international cooperation, transparency, and accountability in combatting the COVID-19 pandemic and in addressing its causes through a video conference says All India Radio. The meeting also discussed collaboration toward preventing future global health crises and reaffirming the importance of the rules-based international. World Health Organization’s Chief Scientist Soumya Swaminathan today commended India for keeping the Coronavirus cases and deaths very low as compared to other countries and said it will play an important role in the development of a vaccine for COVID-19. Meanwhile, the Geneva-based  World  Health Organization has applauded India for effectively trying to contain the spread  of COVID-19.  Ms.Swaminathan said the world cannot have enough vaccines for everyone if India is not part of the process. She said that it is not just enough to develop and test the vaccine, but it is also crucial to manufacturing it, scale-up procurement and get health systems to vaccinate populations. Speaking on the National Technology Day, she said that she would like to commend and congratulate the Indian Government for having contained so far the COVID pandemic and having kept both the number of cases and the number of deaths very low compared to other countries.
