Vivek Gupta elected MCCI President

Trade & commerce have hailed the election of Vivek Gupta, media baron and social activist, as President of the Kolkata headquartered Merchants’ Chamber of Commerce & Industry. MCCI, founded 119 years ago, has played a pivotal role in Bengal’s socio-economic spheres over the years. Classified as a not for profit company, it is guided by Vivek Gupta, Akash Shah, Senior Vice President and Rishabh Kothari, Vice President. Kolkata born Vivek Gupta, 44,  Member of the Rajya Sabha from West Bengal from 2012 till 2018, is the guiding spirit of The SANMARG, a leading Hindi daily in Eastern India, as its Chairman & Group Editor. He had served as a member of Department Related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Food, Consumer Affair & Public Distribution in 2012, presently on Industry. He also was a Member of COPLOT, Official Language Committee under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), Hindi Salahkar Samiti for the following Ministries-Defence Ministry, External Affairs Ministry, Home Affairs Ministry and Human Resource Development. He was Member of COPLOT, Official Language Committee under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB). He is associated with Audit Bureau Circulation (ABC) Media Accreditation Committee,   Indian Newspaper Society (INS) and Vice President-Indian Language Newspaper Association (ILNA) Member-Governing Body Advertising Club of Kolkata. An alumnus of the Institute of Technology affiliated to BHU and University of Calcutta, Vivek Gupta, is basically a social activist despite his association with trade and commerce. During parliamentary career he evinced keen interest in multiple subjects related to the nation.
