FIR Lodged Alleging Defilement Of Saint Don Bosco’s Statute In Tezpur

First Information Report has been lodged at the Tezpur Police Station on desecration of Roman Catholic priest and educator Saint Don Bosco’s statue by some miscreants in the Bishop House in Tezpur, 185 km from Guwahati, on bank of the Brahmaputra River on Saturday night by some miscreants. Anthony Ekka of Tezpur Don Bosco High School said that a complaint was filled with the Tezpur Police Station and the district administration was also urged to immediately arrest the culprits involved. “We will wait for action expected to be taken by the administration. If action is taken, we will be satisfied, otherwise we will go in for a democratic movement in protest against the issue, Ekka added Allen Brooks, Spokesperson for Assam Christian Forum, in a statement said that it was shocking to note that such an incident has happened at Tezpur considered cultural capital of Assam. “This has put us in anxiety. We hope that the culprits are brought to book and the faith and security of the Christian community is restored,” he said.

Incidentally, John Bosco, popularly known as Don Bosco , (1815-1888) born and  passed away in Italy,was a Roman Catholic  priest, educator and writer .While working in Turin, where the population suffered many of the effects of industrialization and urbanization, he dedicated his life to the betterment and education of street children, juvenile delinquents, and other disadvantaged youth. He developed teaching methods based on love rather than punishment, a method that became known as the Salesian Preventive System ,says Wikipedia.
