OPPOSITION Spreading Lies, Pessimism, Says Modi

PRIME Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday accused opposition parties of spreading “lies, confusion and pessimism “as well as scaring the people of the NDA dispensation for furthering their vested interests.

Addressing a public meeting after launching the Mohanpura Irrigation Project in Rajgarh district of Madhya Pradesh, Modi said, “People trust the BJP and its government. Those spreading lies, confusion and pessimism are cut off from the ground reality.” They should check their track records with obvious reference to the Congress. PM Modi paid warm tribute to Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, the founder of the Jan Sangha, predecessor to BJP who had fought for one nation, one constitution and one national flag on his 65th martyrdom day. PM Modi said it was his vision to strengthen education, health, finance, and security which still remained relevant.

“His vision was to impart skills to the youth and give them an opportunity so that they become capable of serving the country. Programmes like Startup, Make in India are a reflection of his ideas,” he said. “It was unfortunate that to glorify one family, deliberate attempt were made to belittle the contributions of other towering personalities in the country,” he said.

Referring to the Congress, the country’s oldest political party, PM Modi said the party which ruled the country for maximum years never trusted the people and their hard work. “They did not trust the strength of the country. In the last four years, we never spoke of frustration and dismay. We are the ones who are marching ahead with confidence,” he said.

Modi said in the last four years at the Centre and 13 years in Madhya Pradesh, the BJP had worked for the uplift and empowerment of poor, farmers and deprived sections of society. It will remain committed to serve all sections of the society including the Annadaatas, he said. When the Congress ruled the state, Madhya Pradesh was called a BIMARU state. “The Congress never saw this as an insult to the people of the state. The BJP had worked hard to remove this tag,” he added.

PM dedicated 23 development projects undertaken at a cost of Rs 278.26 crore in Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur, Gwalior and Ujjain under the Smart City Mission, an official said. Modi also inaugurated drinking water schemes for 14 urban areas.

The 3,866 cr INR Mohanpura Irrigation Project in Rajgarh district in Madhya Pradesh includes a dam and a canal system. It will benefit 727 villages in the state. The Prime Minister complimented the labourers for working hard with tools and machines, sweating it out day and night.

“I have just done the formality of launching the project by pressing the button, but it’s actual launch was done when they toiled hard for it,” he said.Over 700 villages would directly benefit from the project. It would irrigate 1.25 lakh hectares of land, he said, adding that it would also provide drinking water to over 400 villages.Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Water Resources Minister Narottam Mishra were also present at the launch event.(pib image)
