FOOTBALL legend  Lionel Messi has equalled Brazilian legend Pele’s record of 643 goals for a single club by scoring for Barcelona against Valencia. The Argentine born Messi,33, has fulfilled long cherished dream in a Spanish league match where both the teams ended in a 2-2 draw yesterday. Pele scored 643 goals in 665 competitive games for Brazilian club Santos between 1956 and 1974 while Messi needed 748 matches from 2005 to 2020 to reach the tally. The Argentine was on target in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Valencia at the Camp Nou, meaning he is now level with the record Pele set with Santos. Pele, who is critical of Messi at times in the past, took to Instagram after the match to send a message of congratulations to the Barca skipper. Pele  is a Brazilian former professional footballer now 80 -year-old . He had played as a forward and still considered one of the GOATS.He was among the most successful and popular sports personalities. Messi also plays  as a forward and captains both Spanish club Barcelona and the Argentina national team.
