PM Modi Says Yoga Is a Preventive Health-Care For All

PRIME Minister Narendra Modi on Friday led the nation in celebrating the 5th International Yoga Day with the slogan “YOGA Is For Heart”. He joined thousands of people in Jharkhand’s capital Ranchi in doing the ancient physical exercise intended for ensuring disease free life for humans. The multi-nation New York headquartered United Nations at the initiative of PM Modi, has declared June 21 as the International Day of Yoga. It is a matter of great pride that the Prime Minister would participate in the main programme of International Yoga Day in Ranchi, said Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das. The state government made all efforts to make the programme a success. Good arrangements were put in place for the participants. Prime Minister Modi says Yoga has become one of the most powerful unifying forces in the world. Adequate security arrangements were made as over 40,000 yoga enthusiasts were expected to have participated in the event..A total 400 make-shift toilets, over 200 drinking water kiosks, eight medical teams, 21 ambulances, jawans of NDRF and more than 100 CCTV cameras were in place at the venue adjacent to the Prabhat Tara School. A total 28 display screens have been installed at the venue for live telecast of the event. This years slogan is — Yoga for Heart-.Besides the chief minister, Governor Droupadi Murmu, Union Minister of state (Independent) for AYUSH Shripad Yesso Naik and Jharkhand Health Minister Ramchandra Chandravanshi shared the stage with the Prime Minister. Besides, the main event at Ranchi, the event was held across the country and several of them were led by Union ministers, including Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh. Modi also said the government has been working to make Yoga a pillar of preventive healthcare. Expressing concern that young people are becoming vulnerable to heart ailments, Modi said, “Yoga can play a huge role in tackling the issue and hence, this year’s theme is ‘Yoga for Heart’.”He also appealed to the people to take yoga to all sections of society.”We should make efforts to take yoga from cities to villages, tribal areas. Yoga is above region, above faith, above everything,” Modi told the gathering. He also stressed that for yoga to become popular, infrastructure for it must be strengthened and said the government was working towards it. Urging people to make Yoga a part of daily life, Modi said, “Peace and harmony are related to Yoga. People across the world must practice it.”
