PM Narendra Modi Launches Ayushman Bharat Health Scheme For Economically Poor

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the Ayushman Bharat under Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, in Jharkhand’s capital Ranchi. The scheme aims to benefit over 10 crore families by providing them cashless health assurance up to Rs 5 lakh every year without paying any premium. The healthcare scheme was launched at an event organised in Prabhat Tara Ground on Sunday. Earlier, the Prime Minister visited an exhibition based on the PMJAY to witness a demonstration of activities related to the scheme like how a beneficiary’s identification will be done and e-card creation, among others. At the same event for rolling out Ayushman Bharat, the PM laid the foundation stones for medical colleges at Chaibasa and Koderma in the state. Besides, he also inaugurated 10 health and wellness centres. PM Modi said that the Ayushman Bharat is surely very effective. It can be gauged by the fact that the scheme covers more than 1,300 medical treatment. PM Modi said Ayushman Bharat will be a game changer. It is a step towards serving the poor people of the country and eradicating poverty. “Some call it ModiCare; some call it a scheme for the poor. It is definitely a scheme to serve the poor,” he said.

The national health care program will be the world’s largest government-funded healthcare programme.  It became operational from September 25 on the 102nd  birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya,” said NITI Aayog member Dr Vinod Paul, who is the chief architect of the scheme. Functions were also held in 31 states and Union Territories. Andhra, Telangana, Odisha, Punjab and Union Territory of Delhi have stayed from the national healthcare program citing varies reasons. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday launched the Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojna (PMJAY) – Ayushman Bharat in the state’s capital city of Patna and congratulated the central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the same. In Lucknow, it was launched by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh. Addressing the function at Ranchi, PM Modi said the attention of whole of India is on Ranchi. Similar big events were being held in more than 400 districts across the country and everybody “ from there is looking at this grand ceremony of Ranchi on TV .There can be no bigger program intended to serve the poor than through the Ayushman Bharat . It is the world’s largest plan of giving health assurance up to five lakh rupees to more than 500 million brothers and sisters of the country by a government funded scheme,  PM Modi added.
