The ruling BJP is heading for massive win in Haryana and Maharashtra where polling  for  the  two states’ assembly elections concluded by and large peacefully on  October 21.In Haryana, the contest is confined between BJP and Congress and in Maharashtra,  it was BJP-Shiv Sena alliance versus Congress –NCP  together. The exit polls conducted by various agencies and TV channels are unanimous that ruing BJP –Shiv Sena in the western state and BJP in the northern state close to Delhi   is set to return to power. Despite the assembly elections held amidst economic slowdown and unemployment problem plus almost collapse of the Punjab –Maharashtra Cooperative Bank due to an unprecedented fraud the saffron brigade’s winning run will continue in both states. Most exit polls have given the BJP and Shiv Sena combine more than 200 seats out of 288 in Maharashtra, while the party seems close to accomplishing its ‘Mission 75’ in the 90-seat Haryana assembly. An aggregate of various exit polls shows that the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance may win 211 of the state’s 288 seats and the Congress-Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) combine may win 64 seats. In Haryana, the BJP is likely to win 66 of 90 seats, predicts the polls and the Congress is likely to win just 14 seats.(edited by PK Chakravarty)
