RAHUL Gandhi Says His Minimum Income Guaranteed Schema Is Last Surgical Strike on Poverty for Eradicating The Menace Permanently

Former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra have hailed the announcement made by AICC President that women will receive Rs 72,000 per year directly into their bank accounts under the minimum income guarantee scheme, if the party is voted to power. Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee headed by Dikshit has decided to launch awareness program to apprise the electorate of its benefits.  Rahul Gandhi on Monday announced that Rs 72,000 per year will be given as minimum income to poor families  benefiting around 25 crore people, if his party is voted to power in Lok Sabha polls, and asserted it will be the “final assault” on poverty. “I am so happy that under the NYAY scheme, women will be the ones who receive the annual amount of Rs. 72,000 directly into their accounts. Empower a woman, empower a family’,” Priyanka Gandhi wrote on Twitter. Rahul Gandhi claims that he has consulted former Reserve Bank of India Governor Raghuram Rajan and other noted economists before finalizing the scheme. Rajan said it is workable, Gandhi said. Raghuram Rajan, who is close to former UPA Finance Minister P Chidambaram, chairing Congress Party’s Manifesto committee, later told TV channel “The Government that comes after the LS poll, needs to see what the fiscal space look like. As of now, it is very tight. You cannot add scheme upon scheme. A view should be taken on this issue post elections within fiscal space available” .
