FRESH JEE -MAINS for students aspiring to study abroad

Students, whose plans to study abroad have been affected due to COVID-19, will get a fresh chance to apply for JEE-Mains, the entrance exam for engineering colleges, HRD  Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said on Tuesday, May 19. Following representations received from Indian students who were scheduled to join colleges abroad but are now keen to pursue their studies in India due to changed circumstances caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has decided to give an opportunity, he added. The application window for Joint Entrance Exam (JEE-Mains) opened today, will have to be completed by May 24. Students who were not able to complete their application forms due to other reasons can also make use of this opportunity, NTA Director Vineet Joshi said. The exam will be held across the country from July 18-23. One nation, One Digital Platform and One Class, One Channel will ensure reach of quality education to farthest corners of the country, All India Radio reports citing the HRD Minister. Such initiatives will boost access and equity in education and improve the gross enrolment ratio in the times to come.  Nishank said Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had announced several initiatives to boost education sector on Sunday. He said, investing in the human capital is equivalent to an investment in productivity and prosperity of the nation. The present pandemic situation has presented new challenges and several opportunities for the education system Minister also said, a comprehensive initiative called PM e-VIDYA will be launched which unifies all efforts related to digital education. This will enable multi-mode access to education and includes DIKSHA (One nation, One Digital Platform) which will now become the nation’s digital infrastructure for providing quality e-content in school education for all the states and Union Territories. He said the government is expanding e-learning in higher education by liberalizing open, distance and online education regulatory framework. Top 100 universities will start online courses.
