GOI & ADB Sign 110 million USD Loan Agreement For Up gradation of 2,800 KM All -Weather Rural Roads In Madhya Pradesh

Government  of  Indian  and Manila headquartered  Asian Development Bank, ADB, have signed a 110 million US dollar loan agreement for the upgradation of 2,800 kilometers all-weather rural roads in Madhya Pradesh. The loan is  part of 500 million dollar Second Rural Connectivity Investment Program, Tranche 2, approved by the ADB Board December last year, under the Prime Minister’s Rural Roads Program, says  All India Radio.
ln view of increased rainfall and storm surges in Madhya Pradesh, the road designs take into account these climate risks with measures such as greater elevation of road embankments and slope protection. The two projects, Tranche 1 and Tranche2, facilitates the improvement of about 12,000 kilometres rural roads across the states of Assam, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and West Bengal. The overall program is aimed at improving rural connectivity, facilitating safer and more efficient access to livelihood and socio-economic opportunities for rural communities.
