IRRFAN Khan hospitalised in Mumbai

POPULAR Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan was today admitted to  Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital following worsening his health. The 53 years old actor ,who is mourning demise of his mother Saeeda Begum in Jaipur, was put in ICCU as he needed immediate medical attention, says AAJ TAK channel. His wife Sutapa Sikdar and two sons are with him.The actor has been ailing ever since he was diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour and has been under medical attention for the same. However, owing to the ongoing lockdown, the actor could not physically attend his mother’s last rites and reportedly paid his last respect through video conferencing. The actor’s latest film is Homi Adajania’s comedy “Angrezi Medium”, the last-released Bollywood film before COVID-19 , forced the complete shutdown of cinema halls.” Born Sahabzade Irfan Ali Khan, was born to a Pashto speaking Muslim family in Jaipur. Khan’s mother, Begum Khan, was from the Tonk Hakim family and his father, Jagirdar Khan, from the Khajuriya village near the Tonk district, ran a tire business. The Khan family name comes from Turkish and Mongol languages and means “king” or great leader. Descendants of Ghengis Khan (13th century) in central Asia adopted Islam and became the Moghuls, who conquered India for several centuries until British rule. Irfan, who was a skilled cricket player,  was selected for the CK Nayudu Tournament. He, however, had to skip it for lack of funds and as a result, he focused on acting. In 1984 he earned a scholarship to the National School of Acting in New Delhi. He was awarded the Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian honour, for his contribution to the field of arts, says his personal blog.
