MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan tested positive for coronavirus

Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has opted for self-quarantine after he was tested positive for COVID-19 in Bhopal. The chief minister has broken the sad news to the people on social media urging those who have come into close contact with him recently to get themselves tested in their own interest and society. Incidentally, he is the first CM in India to have been infected by the invisible virus. “I was showing symptoms of COVID-19. After the test, it has been confirmed that I am COVID positive,” he tweeted in Hindi. He also added that he has been following all the guidelines prescribed for COVID-19 patients in the country. In my absence, home minister Narottam Mishra will preside over Cabinet meetings,” he added. Earlier reviewing the COVID-19 situation in the state, he had said that in view of the increasing number of cases of Corona in the State, the guidelines related to Corona should be strictly followed in all districts. The Officers in-charge and all 52 district collectors should effectively implement Corona Strategy. Identification, Isolation, Testing  and Treatment are part of the strategy. In the districts where testing is less, it should be increased. Home quarantine and institutional quarantine should be done as per the situation.  Best treatment should be ensured in Corona hospitals. The public should be promoted to wear masks, maintain physical distancing, avoid the crowd and large gathering for any purpose, Chouhan said.
