MUKUL Roy Given Topmost Security By WB Gov
MUKUL Roy, the controversial West Bengal politician, has been provided Z category security by the state government following his return with his son to the ruling TMC dumping BJP after about four years. He returned a similar security cover given by the central government. The ex-Man Friday of the TMC supremo was Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national Vice President. He was welcomed by CM Mamata Banerjee, AITMC General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee and other leaders on Friday, June 11 at the party’s headquarters in Kolkata. He is among the six leaders who had quit TMC and were elected to the recent state legislative assembly elections as BJP candidates. A total of 148 turncoats were given tickets by the BJP. Mukul Roy’s son Sudhanshu, who was TMC MLA before joining BJP, has lost the elections. As political observers say, Mukul Roy, a former Minister of State in the Ministry of Shipping and later Ministry of Railways maintained a low profile in the saffron outfit and refrained himself from harshly criticising TMC supremo promoting controversial BJP MP Arjun Singh to call him Trojan Horse planted by Mamata Banerjee. Addressing media persons shortly after his re-joining TMC, Mukul Roy, said: “In the present circumstances, no one will stay in Bharatiya Janata Party’’. Mukul Roy, who won from Krishnanagar Uttar assembly constituency on the BJP symbol with an appreciable margin, will resign under electoral laws. Earlier, he unsuccessfully contested for entering the legislative assembly. Now the moot question is whether the 76 years old politician who could not adjust himself with the Saffron party will feel really at home in the TMC now in a new environment. Edited by PKC
