NIGHT Curfew Back In Delhi

WITH the number of  Omicron cases increasing across the country including  India’s Financial Capital Mumbai and the national capital, the Union Territory of Delhi will be under Curfew from 11 pm IST to  5 am IST. Delhi and several states have tightened restrictions to contain the spread of the highly transmissible variant impacting the Christmas and New Year festivities. The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has issued an order banning all cultural events and gatherings for Christmas and New Year celebrations. The DDMA has allowed restaurants, bars, and auditoriums to function at 50 percent capacity while putting a ceiling of 200 people in gatherings related to marriage. It has directed the officials to conduct surprise checks and take strict penal action against violators as per the law. “Since wearing of a mask is the most important weapon in the fight against Covid-19, RWAs and MTAs should be advised not to allow their residents, shopkeepers and customers without a mask in their respective areas/public places,” the order read. Last Sunday, Delhi reported 290 fresh Covid-19 cases, the highest in six months, and one related death in the last 24 hours amid the spread of the Omicron variant. The positivity rate for Covid-19 tests rose to 0.55 percent as per the data made public by the Delhi government’s health department. Meanwhile, as per Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s instruction based on a series of consultations with experts, the nation is bracing up for vaccination of the teens against Covid-19 from January 3 and booster dose for medics and paramedics from January ten and then for 60  plus citizens. edited by PK Chakravarty .image courtesy to Mint.
