Oxford Bookstore presents Kidz in Wonderland

Oxford Bookstore presents Kidz in Wonderland -a fun-filled week of art and craft, games, author interactions and storytelling especially for the junior readers from 18 to 24 May only on the official Oxford Bookstores Facebook Page. The Kidz in Wonderland week gives an opportunity for children to take part in ‘Do-It-Yourself’ activities and directly interact with authors aiming to tickle their creative cells for the future.

For nearly 100- years the store has been a ‘base-camp’ of knowledge and has evolved with time to inculcate creative thinking and the habit of reading among children. With summer vacations to begin soon, children can request their favourite books through www.oxfordbookstore.com in Kolkata, Bhubaneswar and Delhi to read at the leisure of their homes.   

The week would see several Oxford Bookstore LIVE sessions at 5 pm starting with  Sufia Khatoon, artist and poet, conducting a workshop on the Art of Journaling on 18 May, Monday, while Talking Cub, an imprint of Speaking Tiger in collaboration with Oxford Bookstore will be presenting Shabnam Minwala interacting with the children about her book and conducting a live word game on 19 May, Tuesday based on her book Nimmi’s Bizzuper Birthday. A session with Nandini Nayar on 20 May, Wednesday, jointly presented by Harper Collins and Oxford Bookstore, would focus on the importance of questioning and why should it begin from an early age through her book series- Mini’s World. Puppets have always caught the fancy of a child, and so Shreedevi Sunil brings to life puppets for the children through her storytelling powers, on 21 May, Thursday in a session presented by Oxford Bookstore, Education for All, Spagna and Talking Turtles.

Anupam Arunachalam incites the curiosity of the little ones towards the Indian epic- Mahabharata- through his recently launched book Young Pandavas. He would be interacting with the audience during a special session co-presented by Hachette India on 22 May, Friday. Oxford Bookstore would be teaming up with Scholastic for the third time to present an interacting reading of Hungry to Read written by Arti Sonthalia and illustrated by Sumedha Saha. The reading will be conducted by storyteller Chitralekha Bhaskar on 23 May, Saturday. In association with The Consulate General of Japan in Kolkata and the Kolkata Origami Centre, origami enthusiast Chiroranjan Bose would facilitate a session of beautiful art with paper. Apart from the regular Oxford Bookstore LIVE sessions, various authors would be reading aloud excerpts from their books. The Book Reading Series will host Talking cub, an imprint of the Speaking tiger, authors- Paro Anand reading from The Other; Bijal Vachharajani reading from A Cloud called Bhura; Ranjit Lal reading from The Hidden Palace Adventure and Bulbul Sharma reading from Murder in Shimla. Harper Collins Author Mini Menon would be reading an extract from Quirky History while SAGE Publications India author Debasish Sengupta will read aloud from The Life of Z. Joie Bose from Poetry Paradigm would address the budding writers through a message on The Art of Creative Writing with a special segment on Haiku.  For more details on the sessions, one can visit the Oxford Bookstore Social Media Pages.
