Pak Supported Terror Groups To Be Closely Monitored: Kamla Harris

PRIME Minister Narendra Modi and first-ever lady Vice President of United States of America Kamla Harris had cordial discussions on bilateral and other related issues in the White House on Friday, September 24.VP Kamala Harris ‘suo moto’ referred to Pakistan’s role in terrorism during a meeting with PM Modi. Expressing happiness over the face-to-face interaction with the Indian origin lawyer turned politician, PM Modi says ‘’ Her feat has inspired the entire world. We talked about multiple subjects that will further cement the India-USA friendship, which is based on shared values and cultural linkages. Foreign Secretary Harsh Shringla said the bilateral discussions between PM Modi and VP Kamala Harris were substantive and cordial. The issues such as climate change, terrorism, cyber security, space, and others were discussed during the meeting. Shringla said when the issue of terrorism came up, VP Kamala Harris suo motu referred to Pakistan’s role in that regard. She asked Pakistan to stop supporting terror groups. Kamala Harris pointed at the need to rein in and closely monitor Pakistan’s support for such terror groups, Shringla said. PM Modi and VP Kamla Harris also exchanged views on recent global developments, including in Afghanistan and reaffirmed their commitment towards a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific region. The Covid-19 situation in their respective countries, the ongoing efforts to contain the pandemic through expedited vaccination efforts, and ensuring supply of critical medicines, therapeutics and healthcare equipment were also reviewed.PM Modi has invited  Kamla Harris to visit India. It may be recalled that Kamla Harris was born 56 years ago to Madras born Shyamala Gopalan, a biomedical scientist, settled in the US. Donald J Harris was the father of VP Kamla Harris.
