PM Modi Files Nomination Paper for LS Poll from Varanasi after Massive Show of Strength by NDA Leaders

PRIME Minister Narendra Damodardas Modi filed nomination papers on Friday, April 26, for seeking re-election from Varanasi in Eastern Uttar Pradesh on the bank of holy Ganga River in the presence leaders of the NDA.Polling is on April 19 and counting of voting will be taken up on May 23.Bharatiya Janata Party President Amit Shah, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath,  Union Ministers Piyush Goyal, Nitin Gadkari, Raj Nath Singh, Uddhav Thackeray of Shiv Sena, Sukhbir Singh Badal from Shiromani Akali Dal, O Panneerselvam from AIADMK, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, his Meghalaya Counterpart Conrad Sangma were  present on the  occasion and several of them accompanied him  to the Collectorate where Modi  filed nomination paper.Ealier in the day, Modi said: “Whether I win or not is not important. It’s the democracy that should win. Forming the government is in people’s hands, running it is our duty.” After filing nomination paper, PM Modi urged voters to ensure peaceful voting in the remaining phases and uphold the festive spirit of our democracy.”He drove to the Collectorate after prayer at Kaal Bhairav Temple, one of the oldest temples in the holy city. Kaal Bhairav is considered incarnation of Lord Shiva and is the protector of the pilgrimage city. In 2014 Lok Sabha Poll, Modi had contested from Vadodara in Gujarat and Varanasi and won by a massive margin from the two Lok Sabha constituencies. He had defeated Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Congress candidate Ajay Rai had finished third (edited by Pranab Kumar Chakravarty).
