PM Modi Holds Massive Road show In Varanasi Ahead Of Nomination Papers on Friday: It Will Be Virtually Walk-Over For Modi, Say Political pundits
ENDING speculation, INC has named Ajay Rai as its candidate for May 19 Varanasi Lok Sabha election against Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is seeking re-election from the ancient vibrant city representing Hindu faith and culture .It was speculated that Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra would take on PM Modi in Varanasi .She was reportedly interested in contesting the Lok Sabha Poll from Varanasi , BJP’s strong hold .BJP stalwart Murli Manohar Joshi was the party’s sitting MP in 2014 when PM Modi decided to make debut in Parliamentary politics from India’s religious capital. Rai and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal unsuccessfully had contested against Modi in 2014. Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed his parliamentary constituency, Varanasi, on Thursday, on a 2-day visit, a day before he is due to file his nomination papers for the Lok Sabha elections.BJP president Amit Shah said. On Thursday, PM Modi held a massive 7km long road show commencing from the Banaras Hindu University gate and culminating at Dashashwamedh Ghat. At the famed Ghat, Modi participated in Ganga Aarati.”Another senior BJP leader said that this road show would be a “never before, never after” event. Before filing his nomination papers at 11:30 am on April 26, PM Modi will visit the Baba Kaal Bhairav temple and offer prayers. He is also likely to offer prayers to Kashi Vishwanath temple. National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders, including Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) politicians , Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Aditya Nath , Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari and Ram Vilas Paswan from Tamil Nadu will be present when PM Modi files will file nomination papers tomorrow. Incidentally, in 2014 Lok Sabha poll Narendra Modi polled 5, 81,022, Arvind Kejriwal (AAP) 2, 09,238,INC candidate Ajay Rai 75,614 and Vijay Prakash Jaiswal of BSP totalled 60,579 votes. Before commencing the Mega Road Show in which an estimated 6 lakh people participated, Modi garlanded the statute of Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya, founder of BHU and a great social reformer.
