Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, December 13, led the nation in paying homage to the martyrs who laid down their lives in saving the iconic Parliament House and the Members of Parliament attending the session this day 18 years ago. Ministers, MPs, journalists, employees and visitors escaped unhurt. The horrendous terror attack was carried by Pakistan based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).In the attack, five terrorists, six Delhi Police personnel, two Parliament Security Service personnel and a gardener were killed. Post the attack, tensions between India and Pakistan escalated standoff between the two nations. Constable Kamlesh Kumari of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was the first to spot the terrorists and was shot by them as she raised the alarm. She died on the spot. One gunman’s suicide vest exploded when he was shot dead; the other four gunmen were also killed. The total number of deaths was 14 and at least 22 people were injured in the attack, says Wikipedia. Delhi Police has confirmed that five terrorists carried out the attack. They were Hamza, Haider alias Tufail, Rana, Ranvijay and Mohammed. They were killed. Indian investigation agencies say Masood Azhar, Ghazi Baba alias Abu Jehadi and Tariq Ahmed from Pakistan were also involved in the attack.
