VETERAN Playback Singer Shakti Thakur Passes Away
SHAKTI Thakur, noted playback singer, died following a heart attack in his Kolkata residence. He had worked in Bangla and Hindi movies. Shakti Thakur,73 is survived by wife and two daughters. His younger daughter Monali Thakur, a popular singer, is on her way from Switzerland on receipt of the sad news. He was suffering from various age-related ailments over the past few years. He was diagnosed with different aliments and was under treatment. He breathed his last within a few hours of massive cardiac arrest, said Mehuli, his elder daughter. Music lovers and celebrities have paid homage to the departed soul. He was known for his melodious voice. He had worked with ace actors like Utpal Dutt, Bikash Roy and others. Monali, who shot into fame through a singing reality show, was highly inspired by his dad. The Bollywood singer had always candidly spoken about her dad whom she considered her biggest inspiration. Even during the previous season of ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’, Monali spoke about her dad Shakti who was her first music teacher. The singer says she feels devastated as she couldn’t visit her dad as she was stuck in Switzerland due to the pandemic. Mehuli Goswami Thakur posted 14 hours ago — “আমি তো ভুলেই গিয়েছিলাম যে বাবা মায়েরা একদিন চলে যায়…. জীবনে কোনোদিনও স্মশানে আসিনি…. আজ সবই জীবনে প্রথম বার…… বাবা ছাড়া আজ থেকে নতুন জীবন…….. তুমি কি কোনোদিনও কোনো পাপ করোনি বাবা?….. নইলে এভাবে দুঘন্টার মধ্যে কে চলে যায়? “ধুর আর ভাল্লাগছেনা” বলে চলে গেলে…… সব কিছুতেই তাড়াহুড়োর জন্য কত বকা বকি করতাম…… আজ চলে যাওয়ার সময়ও এমন অদ্ভুত তাড়াহুড়ো কে করে বাবা?….. আমি তো তোমার কার্বন কপি…. আমিও তোমারি মতন তাড়াহুড়ো করে চলে যাবো দেখো……… কষ্টটা লিখে ফেলতে পারলে বোধহয় নিঃশ্বাস নিতে পারতাম…… Conveying condolence to the grieving family, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said his death was an “irreparable loss to the music world”. “Saddened to hear the news of Shakti Thakur’s demise, a noted playback singer in Bengali and Hindi films and an actor”. Monali took to Instagram to share thoughts on her father’s demise, “Sri Sakti Thakur. my father, my all, the core of my existence, my biggest critic and cheerleader and my Teacher, the Angelic hand above my head. Amar Baba physically left us yesterday. I had never seen a more kind-hearted and a humbler person in my life, not a jack of all trades but truly a master of many.
