VETERAN Politician N D Tiwari Passes Away

FORMER Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand Narayan Dutt Tiwari died on his 93rd birth day at a private hospital in Delhi on Thursday after prolonged illness. Tiwari was admitted at the Max Super Speciality Hospital and died at 2.50 pm IST, doctors said. The veteran  politician was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.. He was suffering from fever and pneumonia. A team of doctors was monitoring his condition in the ICU round the clock. Nainital born Tiwari born in a Kumaoni was a Union minister in several Congress governments and was Andhra Pradesh governor. Tiwari was a three-time chief minister of Uttar Pradesh and also served as the CM of Uttarakhand between 2002 and 2007. He served as the governor of Karnataka. This was the last constitutional post held by him. Narayan Dutt Tiwari was formerly in Praja Socialist Party and later joined Indian National Congress.  In 1986–1987, he served in Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s Cabinet as Minister for External Affairs. Last year, prior to the assembly elections in Uttarakhand, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. Tributes started pouring in after the news of his death broke out. BJP president Amit Shah said  “I express my condolences to the family of ND Tiwari and pray that his soul may rest in peace.” n January 18, 2017, Pandit Narayan Datt Tiwari gave blessings and his support along with his son Rohit Shekhar Tiwari, Advocate and former Advisor, Government of Uttar Pradesh) and his wife Dr.  Ujjwala Tiwari to Narendra Modi and the BJP for the assembly elections held in his native state Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh in presence of BJP President Amit Shah in the interest of Development. His first wife was Dr Sushila Sanyal from 1954 to 1993.
