YOGI govt offers job to the wife of murdered journalist Vikram Joshi, free education for children, 10L compensation

WB  CM Mamata Banerjee, BSP supremo Mayawati and other opposition leaders have slammed Jogi Adityanath led  UP government over the killing  of journalist Vikram Joshi near his residence in Vijay Nagar at Ghaziabad close to the national capital. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has tweeted: “Vikram Joshi was killed because he protested against his niece’s harassment. Condolences to the bereaved family. They promised Ram Rajya and delivered Goondaraj.’’ “Across the state of Uttar Pradesh, the way killings, crimes against women are on a rise, it makes it clear that that the law of jungle is prevailing in the state. More than coronavirus, people have become vulnerable as the virus of crime spreads. The government should pay heed,” BSP chief Mayawati tweeted in Hindi.  “The BSP demands that the grieving family should get compensation. The scribe was attacked when he was returning from his sister’s house along with his two daughters on a motorbike on Monday night ,July 20. He had suffered a bullet injury in  his head after assailants opened fire at him. He was hospitalised where he succumbed to his injuries. The doctor of the hospital monitoring Joshi said that the veins in the journalists’ head had got badly damaged due to the bullet injury. Nine persons including 2 main suspects have been nabbed. CM Jogi has announced job his spouse, INR ten lakh ex-gratia and free education of his children.The attack is believed to be the fallout of a complaint that Joshi had lodged at the Vijay Nagar police station on July 16 about some people allegedly harassing his niece. In the CCTV footage, the bike can be seen being intercepted by a group of men who surrounded the bike, and started pulling and hitting the rider. The two daughters of Vikram Joshi could be seen running away the moment the bike falls. Local beat in-charge Raghvendra was put on suspension with immediate effect for not taking swift action and ignoring the complaint filed by the family of the victim. Joshi’s brother, Aniket Joshi said, “some men were harassing his niece a few days ago and my brother had opposed it and also filed a police complaint on July 16.  There was a scuffle between Joshi and the miscreants to protect his niece. Ghaziabad SSP Kalanithi Naithani has confirmed the suspension  of  booth in charge of Vijay Nagar police station SI Raghvendra for alleged dereliction of duty, and an enquiry has been set up under a DSP-rank officer to ascertain the delay in action.“We are very strict when it comes to crimes against women. The family approached them with a case of molestation. The accused had also filed a counter FIR, alleging they were assaulted by Vikram’s relatives. But the policeman should have acted swiftly since it was a crime against a woman,” said Dr Rakesh Mishra, CO 1st, Ghaziabad.
