BJP set to form govt in MP following over 25 Scindia loyalists MLAs quitting Congress reducing Kamal Nath govt to a minority: large number of Congress activists leave Congress

AFTER about 15 months, BJP is set to come back to power in Madhya Pradesh as over 22 Congress MLAs including six ministers owing allegiance to former Union Minister and Gwalior Maharaja Joytiraditya Scindia,49, have quit the Congress government reducing its majority support in the state legislative assembly.  Scindia after resigning from the country’s oldest political party, INC, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on March 10 as the nation was celebrating Holi festival. On his late father, Madhav Rao Scandia’s 75th birth anniversary, he resigned from the congress after 18 years association with it. He his supporters are likely to join the saffron party. His paternal grandmom Vijaya Raje Scindia was a leading leader of the BJP. His paternal aunt   Vasundhara Raje was Chief Minister of Rajasthan and another aunt Yashoda Raje Scindia is a senior BJP MLA in the northern state. The disgruntled MLAs have informed Governor Lalji Tandon about resignation as lawmakers. Their resignations have also been received by the Speaker. While 19 Congress MLAs from Madhya Pradesh have taken shelter in Bengaluru city, the Congress high command is hardly getting any support from its Karnataka unit to contact them. While 17 MLAs, including six ministers landed on Monday evening, two of the four MLAs, who had come down last week have stayed back in the city. State Congress spokesperson Pankaj Chaturvedi, a close confidant of Scindia, resigned from the party’s primary membership soon after Scindia announced that he was quitting the party. Former Chief Minister Shiv Raj Singh Chouhan, 60, is expected to head the BJP Government. The assembly session is from March 16.BJP has decided to ask the Congress government for floor test.
