Centre allows States, UTs to hire special buses for transportation of train passengers

Centre has allowed hiring of special buses by States and Union Territories to ferry passengers to  stations for departure and arrival at railway stations as the public and private transport  remains suspended  due to lockdown. The Union Home Ministry has said under the Standard Operating Procedure, to and fro movement of passengers from railway station to home has been allowed on the basis of confirmed e – tickets, says All India Radio. The Union  Home Ministry said some of the state governments have requested to allow special buses to ferry  the passengers arriving by train to their homes. Keeping in view the situation, State and UT governments are allowed to engage special buses from railway station, wherever public or personal transport is not available. They have to maintain proper social distancing norm, as per the MHA directive. The  Ministry of Home Affairs has meanwhile directed all the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) canteens and stores across the country to sell only indigenous products from June 01, 2020. The total purchase value would be about Rs. 2800 crore. An estimated 50 lakh family members of about 10 lakh CAPF personnel will use indigenous products. Home Minister Amit Shah has appealed to the people to use the products made in the country as much as possible and encourage others to do the same. “This is not the time to turn the crisis into an opportunity” the Home Minister said.
