Did Hope and Democracy Die in America?

A letter to the Editor, eBangla.in

If you don’t VOTE in This Election, that means you have lost HOPE. Nothing should stand in the way of your vote and the ballot box tomorrow (www.electionday.org). Because Privilege has no place in an Election, But Empathy Does. This is ultimately a test of what we stand for as a nation. Think about it, how often do you hold in your hands the chance to change the trajectory of the most powerful country in the world? This Election shouldn’t be a Tough Call, because Trump was endorsed by both the Taliban and the KKK, and Biden was endorsed by a broad bipartisan coalition and the new England Journal of Medicine. It’s no longer Republicans vs Democrats, It’s America vs Trumpers, and that’s a battle America MUST WIN. Think about how you felt when Trump used the power of his office to target and hurt immigrants, Muslim Ban, Black Americans, the LGBTQ community, women, his political opponents, peaceful protestors, the free press, the environment, and our DEMOCRACY. “The unavoidable truth here is that the system is already rigged, and it’s rigged in a way that has allowed a party without popular support to drastically reshape an entire branch of government for the foreseeable future by appealing almost exclusively to White voters in some of the least populous regions of the country. That is not a mandate, and it’s not a democracy, it’s a travesty. We’re at the end of a generational battle, and the heartbreaking thing is: we lost. But the next battle has to start right now, and we must be willing to fight tirelessly and with every tool and tactic at our disposal” “Law and order” entail the weaponizing of the machinery of justice to obscure a massive crime against U.S. democracy that Trump has openly invited a second time, the weaponizing of it to protect Trump’s cronies, and the weaponizing of it to suppress domestic dissent and manufacture authoritarian agitprop for nakedly corrupt purposes — all with impunity. With the impunity that the imprimatur of his attorney general Bill Barr brings, who nakedly serving the interest of Trump. The president of the United States will not only affect this country’s future and shape it, but will also affect many countries around the world. Your vote counts, your vote shows that you care! Please vote with your family members or meet with a friend. Be the positive change and remember to never underestimate the power that you have in between your hands. The AAPI community is energized to win our country back. AAPI for Biden site serves as a hub for resources about Joe, his policies for the AAPI community, and ways for the community to get involved. Here’s the list of AAPI Endorsements for Biden. Asian Americans (AsAm) became an important voting bloc, more specifically Bangladeshi Americans and Biden-Harris team took notice as such.  The presidential race remains steady. Biden leading not only nationally but across almost all battleground states (Arizona (11), Florida (29), Pennsylvania (20), and Wisconsin (10)), historically candidates who are ahead by 5 or more 5 days before the election have all gone on to win the election. Despite Biden’s lead, there is an unease and discomfort. The fear of the Supreme Court overturning the will of the people remains real. Voter suppression is still ongoing across all Red states. As witnessed The Supreme Court voted not to reinstate a Wisconsin court’s order that called for an extension on accepting mail-in ballots for the 2020 election in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Justice Brett Kavanaugh wrote a lengthy opinion on the Court’s decision to deny hearing the case, signaling a more partisan decision that ultimately sided with Republicans. We are up against the monsters, and failure is not an option. Remember Biden needs a landslide just to win. Don’t forget If any dispute goes to the Supreme court, Trump is guaranteed to win!
So “GET OUT THE VOTE”, It’s on us now. Let’s bring it home.
