From 2022 IPL, 10 teams will be allowed , says BCCI

The  Mumbai headquartered   Board of Control for Cricket in India, the governing body for activities related to sports, has decided to allow ten franchises instead of eight now to participate in the much-hyped Indian Cricket League from 2022 season .The decision in this regard was okayed at its 89th General Body Meeting(AGM) held in Ahmedabad on Thursday, December 24.The cricket  Board, in principle, has also decided to endorse the ICC’s bid for inclusion of cricket in the T20 format, in the 2028 multi-national  Los Angeles Olympics “after getting some clarifications from the International Olympic Committee”. All first-class players, both men and women, will be suitably compensated for the curtailed domestic season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The BCCI plans to get the domestic season underway, after several months’ delay, in January with the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 championship.Incidentally, in the 2020 IPL played in the United   Arab Emirates(UAE) in bio bubbles due to Coronavirus pandemic, eight teams had participated. These were Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kings XI Punjab. The 13th edition of the IPL  tournament was conducted from October to November 2020  with Mumbai Indians winning the title defeating Delhi Capitals in the final played in Dubai.
