IN DIDI’s Turf, PM Modi Reaffirms Nation’s Chowkidar Will Not Spare Any Corrupt Person

PRIME Minister Narendra Modi has accused Bengal Chief Minister of trying to protect those involved in chit fund scams and warned neither the perpetrators nor those shielding them will be spared. He was obliquely  referring to  Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar and some other senior Bengal Police officer are allegedly involved in saving the ruling Trinamool  leaders in the multi-crore  Sharada Chit fund scams. The Trinamool supremo reacted saying Modi is the “master of corruption” and a “shame” for the country. Addressing his third rally in the state in a week, in North Bengal’s Jalpaiguri on Friday PM Modi said Banerjee’s ruling Trinamool had inherited the legacy of “bloodshed, violence and atrocity” from the previous Communist government and “defamed” the soil of West Bengal. Banerjee is making efforts to cobble up a coalition of parties to defeat the BJP led NDA government in the coming Lok Sabha election. The proposed ‘Mahagathbandhan’ (grand alliance) was ‘Maha Milawat’ (a grand adulteration) of people who had no ideology or vision for the country. “Never in the history of our country have we witnessed a chief minister sitting on a dharna to save the corrupt. The poor want to know as to why Didi sat on dharna to save those who are accused of failure of duty to probe the chit fund scam looting lakhs of people. “This chowkidar (watchman) will not spare them. Whether it is the perpetrators or their protectors, nobody will be allowed to go scot free,” Modi said. Banerjee said “”The less we talk about this man the better. Mr Muddy is the master of corruption. He is master of arrogance and a shame for the country. I have no words to describe him. His standard is so low that we never expected such a man to be the prime minister. We have respect for the chair but not for this man,” she told journalists in Kolkata. “He (Modi) is the most corrupt man in the Rafale deal. He is the master of note–bandi. He was never a ‘chaiwala’ and doesn’t know how to make tea, the Bengal chief minister said. PM Modi addressed a gathering after laying the foundation stone of the National Highway 31-D section and inaugurating the new High Court Bench Circuit in the city. He said that the new high court would be beneficial for the people of Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling and adjacent areas as it would save their time and money. He had a special relationship with people of North Bengal as most of the people of the city are tea-growers and he is a tea maker. PM said Kolkata has become the platform for the corruption and for saving the corrupt. I want to tell every person who has been making a forum in Kolkata and shouting Modi-Modi, where all will you stage a protest to cover the corrupt people? Today, every corrupt person is troubled by Modi. We are trying to bring in those who have looted the poor, betrayed the defence forces from abroad but these people are trying to save them with all their might and power.”(with inputs from The Indian Express)
