Jallikattu is about the popular sport of bull taming where the participants leave no stone unturned to emerge as the Male Alpha. The movie is set in a small village and tells the story of a butcher who loses control of the animal at a ritual slaughter. As Sowmya Rajendran writes ‘’Jallikattu deliberately sets out to impress upon the viewers how similar humans are to animals, despite years of civilisation trying to distinguish between the two categories. How it takes only a trigger for us to regress to who we really are. In this sense, the film reminds one of William Golding’s Lord of the Flies, a novel about a group of children who end up in an isolated island where little by little, the boys lose the influence of civilisation and go back in time to invent their own rudimentary notions of society’ ’JALLIKATTU has been preferred over 27 films including Amitabh Bachchan, Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Gulabo Sitabo, Anushka Sharma’s production Bulbbul, Priyanka Chopra and Farhan Akhtar starrer The Sky is Pink, Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Serious Men, and Janhvi Kapoor’s Gunjan Saxena. Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy was the India’s official entry to the 92nd Academy Awards. However, the film did not make the cut among the 91 films that were selected for the Oscars. The South Korea blockbuster, Parasite was adjudged the best in the International Feature Film category creating sort of history by becoming the first non-English film to win the Best Picture’s tag. It has been announced, in the meantime, that The 93rd Academy Awards ceremony originally scheduled for 28 February 2021  has been postponed to 25 April 2021 due to Covid-19 pandemic. edited by @chakravartypk.pic courtesy to Social News XYZ
