Narendra Modi launches physical distribution of property cards under SWAMITVA scheme

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a unique scheme called ‘SVAMITVA’ meaning property ownership right to the deserving rural people across the vast country. The move will help villagers to use the property as financial assets for taking loans and other financial benefits when necessary. Property cards distributed under the SVAMITVA scheme will give people the right proof of land ownership. This will enable them to apply for bank loans easily. This historic effort is intended to help rural India to contribute immensely to the ongoing efforts to build ATMANIRBHAR Bharat. Crores of families in villages who did not have homes for decades, have Pucca houses now under varied schemes initiated by the government. Gas connections have reached the houses of those deprived of it for years, says Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar. The initiative is aimed at transforming rural India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said nobody could eye the property of beneficiaries under ‘’The Survey of Villages And Mapping With Improvised Technology In Village Areas’’ scheme abbreviated as SVAMITVA after launching the physical distribution of property cards on Sunday. These cards are physical copies of property titles of the villagers’ homes and the surrounding areas they own as opposed to the cultivated land. Under the scheme  land parcels in rural areas were mapped using drones. This will help in revenue collection and ensure clarity on property rights in rural areas. “When one becomes the owner of their house, their self-respect is restored. One feels secure and strong,” PM Modi said while interacting with beneficiaries of the scheme. “The launch of physical distribution of property cards is another historic step towards a self-reliant India,” PM Modi said, adding that the day it is being launched on is also significant. “Today is the birth anniversary of Jayaprakash Narayan and social reformer Nanaji Deshmukh. These two leaders worked tirelessly for rural development,” PM Modi added. Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath, Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar and Uttarakhand CM Trivendra Singh Rawat were also present at the event.PM Modi interacted with many beneficiaries of the SVAMITVA scheme.
