AFTER a staggering 6-0, 6-2, 7-5 win over Novak Djokovic, world’s number one ranked tennis player in the Roland Garros final, Rafael Nadar, 34-year-old insists that he won’t be obsessed with ending his career as the all-time greatest Slam winner. Djokovic praised Nadal after the Spaniard’s historic Roland Garros triumph saying “You showed why you are King of Clay”. Nadal says “I would love to finish my career being the player with more Grand Slams.” You can’t be always unhappy because your neighbour has a bigger house than you or a bigger boat or has a better phone’’, News 18 reports from Paris citing him. .Nadal is the oldest French Open champion since 1972. Djokovic had won 14 of the last 18 matchups against Nadal and led 29-26 overall, including a 6-3 6-2 6-3 win at the 2019 Australian Open final. Rafael Nadal has equalled records of winning the coveted championships with  Roger Federer with 20 Grand Slam titles by his splendid performance against Djokovic in the French Open final last night at Roland Garros on the red clay. Playing in the presence of 1,000 spectators due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Nadal, ranked number 2 in the tennis world, improved to 100-2 at the French Open, including a combined 26-0 in semi-finals and finals besides achieving fourth consecutive title in the famed French Open. Nadal, a left-hander, is even with Federer for the first time since each man had zero Slams to his name in 2003. Federer’s first arrived at Wimbledon that year; Nadal earned his first in France in 2005, by which point he trailed 4-0. Djokovic’s loss left him at 17 majors; had he won, the trio’s standings would have read 20-19-18. Djokovic entered the Roland Garros final against Nadal with a wealth of experience and form on his side. Djokovic,37 from Serbia, remained unbeaten 37-0 till Sunday’s men’s singles final in the 2020 French Open barring the US Open disqualification. He had beaten the Spaniard in 29 of their previous 55 ATP Head-2-Head matches. But despite all his past successes against Nadal, the top-ranked player had to concede defeat to Nadal on Court Phillipe-Chatrier.
