Rajnath Singh performs ‘Shastra Puja’ near the Indo-PRC border
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday, October 25 said India wants the Indo-China border tension to end and peace preserved. At the same time, our army will not let anyone take even an inch of our land. He was speaking after performing ‘Shastra Puja’ on the occasion of Dussehra with Army soldiers in Sikkim. The Minister performed the ‘Shastra Puja’ with the soldiers at the Nathula Pass near the China border along with Army Chief General MM Narwane, other senior officers, and Jawans. He later met with the soldiers close to Nathula Pass and addressed them. Nathu La, it may be recalled is a mountain pass in the Himalayas in East Sikkim district. It connects Sikkim with China’s Tibet Autonomous Region. The pass, at 4,310 m above mean sea level, forms a part of an offshoot of the ancient Tea Horse Road. Nathu means “listening ears” and La means “pass” in Tibetan, days Wikipedia. His programs include visits to the forward locations where India has deployed a large number of men and tanks to prevent any possible attempt of infiltration by the Chinese. The defence minister also inaugurated a road constructed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) in Sikkim, via video conferencing from Sukna in Darjeeling. He inaugurated the Alternate Alignment Gangtok – Nathula Road via video conferencing from the Headquarters of 33 Corps in Sukna, Darjeeling.
