Uttar Pradesh government is set to create  10 lakh jobs in the next 6 months for the migrant workers compelled to return to their home state due to the lockdown of business where they were employed. Uttar Pradesh is among the states that have seen large reverse migration during the lockdown. Poor people from Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, West Bengal besides  UP, the most populous Indian state, have no alternative but to work in other states due to poverty and lack of employment opportunities in their home states.  Malfunctioning of the MGNREGA  Scheme and public Distribution  System are among the major causes increasing their woes. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed 75 district magistrates to generate 1 crore working days jobs under  MGNREGA daily from June 15. CM Yogi is of the view that it is not a pipe dream to generate 1 crore working days through MGNREGA to help the maximum number of migrant workers and labourers. District magistrates have been asked to review and explore the avenues to generate employment through MGNREGA and send their reports to the state government within 3 working days from June 10. CM Yogi has also directed to commission TrueNAT machines in all the districts by June 15 to ramp up COVID 19 testing facilities and instructed the officials to maintain adequate arrangements in COVID -19 and Non-COVID hospitals, directing the ministers concerned to have regular feedback from various medical institutes and district hospitals. Uttar Pradesh’s government will change its strategy in the coming days to deal with the growing number of COVID-19 cases in the state. Talking to AIR, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said ‘’we are monitoring the situation of corona spread  and in future, we will change  our strategy to stop the spread of the deadly virus further.’’ Recently, there is a spurt in the COVID-19 cases in the state and from the last 15 days, every day around 200 to 300 new cases are being found. ’We were prepared for the situation and we knew that a lot of cases will come along with migrant workers. Due to the rising cases, we had to close the borders with Delhi in Noida and Ghaziabad and these cases were found in some media houses also.  We have made arrangements of all kinds and will change the strategy of curbing the spread accordingly, Yogi Adityanath said.
